A game dev podcast for (aspiring) indie game developers, hosted by a "professional". (I am behind the Steam titles Thronefall, ISLANDERS, and Will You Snail.) Because I don’t rely on the show for income, the vibe is relaxed with minimal monetization. We focus on hands-on indie development and occasionally branch into broader game-dev topics. Episodes are also available in video on YouTube.

  • Indie Game Dev Staple

Super casual and easy to listen to. Great conversations with people of various experiences in the field. So good that I’d prefer Jonas monetized it more because he deserves it.

  • Rare Review

Jonas, I may be just one data point, but consider that I may be a rare data point and that rareness can be high information value in a noisy sea of feedback or even lack of feedback. I love the long form podcast where you pick people’s brains on why and how they built something. The episode with the 30yr old MMORPG by CipSoft was especially fun because it is so different! I’m a mid 30s dad (swe) learning how to make games for fun and needed some gym/car listening material. Keep up the great work... more

Grow Your Game Dev Success Gradually
Q: How were the reviews at launch? Were they overwhelmingly positive or was it mostly positive?
The reviews were pretty good, but the sales figures weren't great, indicating a lack of momentum despite positive feedback.
How A Text-Only Game Became A Steam Hit
Q: So you got to lean a bit into what works, I guess, right? So if maybe the punk band starts doing really, really well, maybe then that mixes things up a bit?
Yes, I'm having a lot of fun with it, but I can't move away from game stuff at this point, I have too much on my plate.
How A Text-Only Game Became A Steam Hit
Q: When did you start identifying yourself as a game developer?
I think probably 2018, 2019, when it was becoming like a job, I started to feel really like, okay, now we're getting somewhere.
How A Text-Only Game Became A Steam Hit
Q: Do you maybe want to go through the development of the Warsim from start to finish?
My initial idea was to make a fun project to learn C++ and it evolved into Warsim as I started adding various features and expanding it beyond my early concepts.
