  • Mostly good episodes, far too trusting of government

I’ve really enjoyed these podcasts. There’s a great variety of content and perspectives, some a little dry, some fascinating and informative. Dan is a great host… mostly.

In a recent interview with former FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, most a very good interview, Dan seemed to be heavily in favor of government regulation of AI. Tom even mentioned that the sudden turnaround of major AI companies (after years of opposition) being open to regulation as a “bright spot”.

  • 10/10 Will Keep Listening

Each episode is full of valuable information with no fluff. I always walk away from them having learned something new and certainly a broadened perspective. I think the host does a great job at perfectly timing his questions as to let the guest fully get their point across. Certaily worth of subbing

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

364: Inside the AI Infrastructure Race: TensorWave CEO Darrick Horton on Power, GPUs and AMD vs NVIDIA.
Q: Why did you intentionally choose to optimize your clusters for training versus inference?
A training cluster can serve multiple functions whereas an inference-only architecture cannot be easily adapted to training needs.
364: Inside the AI Infrastructure Race: TensorWave CEO Darrick Horton on Power, GPUs and AMD vs NVIDIA.
Q: Is that the replacement? Is that what's going to solve the problem to be able to keep up with demand or is there something else on the horizon?
Over time, yes, but there will be a power crunch before newer energy solutions become a reality.
364: Inside the AI Infrastructure Race: TensorWave CEO Darrick Horton on Power, GPUs and AMD vs NVIDIA.
Q: What has been either the biggest surprise or specifically the most challenging part about bringing that service to market?
The biggest challenge is making the clusters work in a reliable, stable, scalable manner rather than merely accessing the GPUs.
364: Inside the AI Infrastructure Race: TensorWave CEO Darrick Horton on Power, GPUs and AMD vs NVIDIA.
Q: What was your perspective on what makes it hard to replicate, what you and the team are building?
The intense focus on operating clusters at scale and the complexities involved in doing so make it hard to replicate the business model.
363: Cisco President and Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel on AI’s Real Constraints, Skill Gaps, and the New Rules of Work
Q: What does responsible AI mean to you?
Responsible AI focuses on maximizing the meaningful upside while being aware of the material downside, advocating for retraining the workforce to mitigate the impacts of AI on jobs.
