  • The best!

This was the most helpful resource for me when I was pregnant and preparing for birth. My husband and I would listen to the birth stories together and it was a great way to facilitate discussion around decisions we might have to make. Dr. Nicole is SO great at explaining things in an accessible way. Cannot recommend this podcast enough! ❤️

Thank you Dr. Nicole for featuring a home birth story! We need more OBs like Dr. Nicole who are willing to enter into the conversation with -and learn from -practitioners outside of the hospital setting. It is a women’s fundamental right to decide not only how and with whom she gives birth, but also WHERE she gives birth. Please share more of these stories!

  • Dr Nicole is the balance you need!

I found Dr Nicole’s podcast when pregnant with my second and man oh man do I wish I found her with my first pregnancy. This podcast in my opinion is the most informative and unbiased on this platform for learning about all things pregnancy and birth related. I always recommend this to anyone I know who is expecting. The balance between her medical knowledge and the fact that she is a mom herself. Her love for both obgyn and midwifery philosophies. The way she supports both natural births and med... more

Ep 309: The Oral Health–Fertility Link No One’s Talking About
Q: What role should oral health play in the conversation about fertility?
Oral health should be prioritized by both men and women when planning for pregnancy, as it has a direct impact on fertility outcomes.
Ep 309: The Oral Health–Fertility Link No One’s Talking About
Q: How does oral health impact fertility in women?
Oral health impacts fertility through specific bacteria that can affect female reproductive health and through inflammation caused by those bacteria.
Ep 308: From IVF to Fast Labor: What Dr. Allison Learned on Both Sides of Birth
Q: What is your favorite piece of advice that you would give to someone who's getting ready to have a baby?
Try not to be tied to an outcome and validate that it's really hard to change. The emotional experience of birth is significant, and it is real trauma when it doesn't go according to plan.
Ep 308: From IVF to Fast Labor: What Dr. Allison Learned on Both Sides of Birth
Q: How do you feel about your birth experience?
I feel good. I think if you had asked me previously, like if you would be induced, would that be a good thing? I really wanted to not have an induction, but looking back, I felt good about the experience and the support I received.
Ep 298: From Birth Center to OR: Navigating An Umbilical Cord Prolapse Emergency
Q: What would you say is your one favorite piece of advice or things you would tell someone who's getting ready for their birth?
Ask the surrounding hospitals how their relationship is with your chosen provider, and ensure you understand transfer protocols and the availability of necessary medical personnel at the hospital.
