I’ve recently turned to reading more than I ever have in my life, and this podcast is such a fun addition to that. Listening in makes me feel like I’m a part of a reading club, where I can learn about things like genres vs. gateways, hear book recommendations, and listen to a couple friends/sisters chat about their love of reading. It’s easy to listen to and follow along!
I recently talked with Elizabeth about a book I was hate-reading (I liked the first book in the series so much that even though I was hating the second book I felt obligated to keep reading it). I turned to Elizabeth for permission, I think, to quit reading it, and I needed to be absolved of my sin. I loved the episode in joy finishing books so much, because the dialogue was so smart, but also because it helped me see that reading books I am not into is keeping me from making time for the ones I... more
I’m so exhausted listening to the scourge of news podcasts and thankfully All Books Aloud is filling my time void with insightful and entertaining topics. Martha and Elizabeth are a delight!
Enjoyed this one! I listened to it outside (rather than reading it, haha) and almost felt as though I could chime in. I did mentally, remembering reading that when you are looking at the printed page and read it out loud you get more out of it. That is sort of a combination of reading a book and listening to a podcast. 😁As you said though, it can depend on the person as to what has the most substance and benefit for them.
Enjoyed listening to this. Love the mix of passion for reading with academic literature about reading. Looking forward to more episodes.
