Reviews

4.5 out of 5 stars from 36 ratings
  • Still up for improvement

I personally find that very interesting people talking in the podcast. However the connection is often bad and you can’t hear everything, also would I prefer if the topics would be discussed in more detail.

All topics are only touched very broadly, I wouldn’t mind more details and the episodes going a little longer!

  • Poorly produced and overly engineered

While the topics are occasionally interesting I found the nature of the discussion too stilted to really be of any value.

Q: What happens when humans enhance their capacity to engage in tacit collusion using algorithms?
Algorithms can stabilize collusive agreements and enhance market interdependence, raising questions about the legality of their use in pricing.
Compendium of International Cartels - Antonio Capobianco (OECD) and Ariel Ezrachi (University of Oxford)
Q: What are the reasons why we haven't seen much enforcement regarding algorithmic collusion?
Challenges associated with detection and complex dynamics have hindered enforcement actions, as competition agencies prioritize resources elsewhere.
Innovation Paradox in Merger Control, Gönenç Gürkaynak (ELIG Gürkaynak) and Frédéric Jenny (OECD)
Q: Are you asking competition authorities to do something that they are unfit to do because they don't have the framework to do it?
This is a purposeful question left open in the book; we need better frameworks to analyze innovation complexity in competition law.
Innovation Paradox in Merger Control, Gönenç Gürkaynak (ELIG Gürkaynak) and Frédéric Jenny (OECD)
Q: Have competition authorities dismissed the need for dynamic efficiencies in merger control?
Competition authorities have been quick to assume that dynamic efficiencies are fragile, but they struggle to accept arguments presented by counsel as calculable and articulable.
Innovation Paradox in Merger Control, Gönenç Gürkaynak (ELIG Gürkaynak) and Frédéric Jenny (OECD)
Q: Why do you think that there's this move towards taking more into conservation innovation than used to be the case?
Part of it is the markets moving in that direction, especially with the shift towards digital and pharma markets.
