The 154km West highland way is one of Scotland’s best known hiking trails and in fact is listed as one of Scotland 'Great Trails'. Having said that if you aren’t familiar with hiking in the UK then you may know much about this trail. In this podcast ... more
Australia is a country of sun lovers; if we aren’t at the beach, we’re out bush, if we aren’t out bush, we are usually outside doing something if the weather is warm. As I write this article we are in the middle of a heatwave over much of Australia a... more
Iceland is a destination that you don’t tend to hear too much about when it comes to hiking so when Aussie hiker Sarah Groves contacted me late last year, I was keen to find out more. Over a 12 day period Sarah and her group hiked 160 km on some of I... more
In early 2025 I came across the term Land snorkelling and it definitely piqued my curiosity about what it was because as a term its probably one that most hikers aren’t really familiar with, at least by name, even though they may be familiar with the... more

This podcast has great topics and really well researched. The on trail episodes are a little boring but the after the trip are always good. Tim please stop saying “I must admit” is totally infuriating and annoying or at least edit it out. You could also do better by being a bit more empathic and polite to your guests, sometimes they are saying really interesting things and Tim’s reply is an unrelated question from his list of questions rather than comment on that interesting thing or continue th... more
I only discovered this podcast a few months ago and I have been binging as many episodes as I can squeeze into my day. Gill and Tim, thanks so much for giving me my hiking fix when I can’t actually get out for a hike.
I’ve only been listening to Tim and Gill for about 6 months, but it has become one of my top podcasts. It took me a few episodes to get used to the style and banter but I now actively seek out episodes of interest anytime it’s podcast time. This show is dangerous if you have even a tiniest bit of wanderlust…you’ll be wanting to head to the outdoor shops, quit your job and hit the trails and great outdoors! Thank you for your show!
Great podcast. New to hiking. Information relevant and helpful. Just did 3 Capes and preparing for Overland. Not knowing anything about hiking and being brand new and raw and green, it’s great to hear you guys and learn some from those who have gone out and done. Thanks.
I have enjoyed this show from the start. While I am a seasoned walker, I always find new things in episode and joining Tim and Jill’s adventures and interviews, and the good diversity of topics cover. As a scout leader, I often share episodes with parents of my scouts, to help them understand the packing and other thing their scouts need to / is considering as the episodes are so accessible for outdoors and non-outdoors people alike.
