This year has been relatively light on Christmas horror, but fear not. There's plenty of claret on offer in the remake of 1984's slasher Silent Night Deadly Night from director Mike P. Nelson. It's the story of a likeable drifter, Billy Chapman (Roha... more

  • Dear Helen, love the pod (though with this, Empire and Women vs Hollywood on rotation, I think I've reached the point where I could happily listen to your dulcet tones reading a Wikipedia page, about the phonebook). May I please request we have reviews of two Christmas films I enjoyed recently - the surprisingly charming 'Snowglobe' (feat' Christina Milian and Lorraine Bracco) and the delightful but forgotten BBC gem (feat' Alan Cumming/Lenny Henry), Bernard and the Genie? Thanks!

Pillion, with director Harry Lighton: the unlikely love story with a Christmas twist
Q: Tell me specifically for this podcast, specifically about the Christmas-iness, because the book doesn't start at Christmas, right?
No, the book starts at summer. And I wanted to move it to Christmas because I think that firstly, there's something kind of Jesus-like about Ray in terms of being this like, this like, superhuman, pseudo god of a man.
Carry On
Q: What is your Christmas movie that you have to watch every year?
Amon said Home Alone, while Chris mentioned National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Muppet Christmas Carol.
Carry On
Q: How do you rate the Christmassy-ness of the film?
Amon gave it a four out of five, while Chris gave a 19 out of 25, and Helen rated it a two out of five.
Carry On
Q: What did you think of the body count here?
A lot of people die, which leaves Taron Egerton's character needing to explain himself due to the number of witnesses who are now dead.
Our Little Secret
Q: Do you have a Christmas tradition that's unique or unusual?
Bailey's is usually, but not as you think. Basically, if I see something that has Bailey's in it, I have to try it.
