  • 7 things to watch episode with Gordo

Love the podcast, Derrick. Long time listener. Your connections across baseball bring a fabulous variety of guests that are a treat. And your coverage of the team is excellent. Continues a long tradition of HOF-level coverage that is a big part of why the Cardinals have such a rich history. Thank you!

As I was listening to the extension part of the discussion I wanted to yell out Herrera’s name as a RH bat for the middle of the lineup that can produce power. Not sure what his annual HR expectat... more

  • Great show

Life long St. Louison now deep in the heart of Texas. Derrick and Jeff give me good informative insight, with even handed opinion and get me my Cardinals fix.

They hold the team and management accountable, while also treating their audience as well informed baseball fans. Keep up the good work guys!

  • Good but Could be Great

UPDATE: For the love of Jack Buck, no more Kevin Wheeler! He talks over DG all the time, and his takes are…less than bright (see below). I skip any episode he’s on.

The content is great. Derrick is a sharp baseball thinker, but he often outpaces his guests in terms of the conversation. For example, on a recent episode, Kevin Wheeler’s prescription for improving the team was the following: “Find players no one knows about, and make them better.” That’s some high level analysis 🤦‍♂️

  • Trapped in TX

From Jackson and left to college in 82. Huge Cards fan that has never waned. Also starved for info. TBIB is at the top of the list. History, insight and now in a restart the social aspect. Well done boys!

Side note. In Dallas and Rangers season ticket holder (business) 10 yrs. That’s my AL team. 11 was very unusual and even settled in my mind that a Rangers win would be special. My baseball buddies here know and respect tge Cards as how baseball culture should be. Then game 6 happened. Hard t... more

  • Great show

Derrick & Gordo took at least two series by crushing the subjects. Explaining the new hitting coach’s tactics and approach was very helpful because we all were wondering WHY the Birds were putting together great innings (and games & series — against previously (to us) dominant pitchers and teams). Over the past several years, it always seemed like RISP lived and died, watching subsequent Cardinal Ks or DPs or worse. As y’all said, LaRussa teams seemed more “greedy”. (Maybe it was only me, but I ... more

There are times where I've felt awkward asking the manager about a decision that I know the front office made.
Why baseball managers matter in modern game (even more?) with author of new book, 'Skipper'
Q: What was the genesis of this project for you? Why did you set out to write a book on the modern day manager?
I realized we had all been talking about the marginalization of managers in baseball over the years, and I thought there certainly hadn’t been any books written on the subject.
