  • Great tool to use with Bible reading

This podcast has been a great tool to help me in my Bible reading. The hosts are not only full of knowledge and insights, they are also entertaining and make it more enjoyable to read through the Bible. I am especially grateful for their insights and conversation when reading through books I don’t know or understand well like Ezekiel right now.

  • A great service to us!

I absolutely love this podcast and the helpful commentary when I am studying solo! Instead of having questions and stewing on them, I am given context and guidance through this podcast that helps me fully understand scripture, when at times it can be challenging when you study on your own. I'm super thankful for this additional instrument in my studies! Thank you all!

Bible Savvy Interview | How to Read Joshua w/ Dr. Richard Hess
Q: Why would God command Israel to take land from people already living there by force?
Dr. Hess argues that it was a response to the iniquity of the inhabitants and that the Israelite invasion wasn't a simple act of genocide, but rather a fulfillment of God's promise and protection against Canaanite aggression.
Bible Savvy Podcast | “Hey Clayton!” Part 13: Deuteronomy
Q: How do we differentiate timeless laws from those meant for ancient Israel?
It's important to assess cultural context and theological differences, categorizing laws into moral, ceremonial, and civil types based on their application after Jesus' teachings.
Bible Savvy Podcast | “Hey Clayton!” Part 13: Deuteronomy
Q: Where do we draw the line on magic in stories like Harry Potter?
It's about discerning the type of magic portrayed—whether it's spiritual or alternative physics—and evaluating the moral lessons in those stories.
Bible Savvy Podcast | “Hey Clayton!” Part 13: Deuteronomy
Q: What is the rationale for executing a rebellious son?
This law pertains to adult children and is a matter of public justice, not private discipline, and reflects a serious breakdown in communal responsibility and authority.
Bible Savvy Podcast | “Hey Clayton!” Part 13: Deuteronomy
Q: Why is worship restricted to one specific place in Deuteronomy?
To maintain Israel's loyalty to the one true God and avoid polytheistic practices common in surrounding cultures, consolidating worship helps unify the people under one God.
