Low Noise is a weekly podcast, which provides a (fairly) in-depth analysis of popular music and culture in (approximately) fifteen minutes. These episodes have been recorded ‘on the spot’ using the Low Noise Mobile Recording Studio (my iPad) at various locations throughout the UK. I want to like this as they discuss a number of musicians who I favour. The problem is that the Dr. just speaks too bloody fast. It’s fatiguing on the ears to hear that much information, almost as if packing at 3 AM for a transcontinental trip. Further, they have been significantly wrong on key information several times, most notably in the David Sylvian episode. (E’G Records was not for Eno but rather Enthoven and Gaydon, and the big records was Secrets of the Beehive not Spirit of the Beeh... more
Season 3 reminding me of why I need to revisit a load of “lost” albums: Manassas, Tusk, Band on the Run. Genial chat by guys who know that music matters and that today’s kids are being short-changed.
Been waiting a while for Season 3. Glad you made it, guys. The best music ‘cast out there is well and truly BACK!
So, Season 2 RIP? Well, thanks for the bonus and here’s hoping you can unearth enough gems for Season Three. If they don’t keep taking you down, that is.
Is it just me or is Low-Noise actually getting better with each episode in the new season? Thanks Matt and Dr W (and co) for keep big the flag flying for popular music before the dream turned sour. Great listening.
