  • On loss

Annalisa, I really appreciated the topic of loss - it is such an important and thoughtful area to explore. At times, though, I found myself feeling a little irritated by the tone of your presentation. It came across as though you wanted to demonstrate your own insight and how well you approach things, which could feel a bit superior in comparison to where others might be. I also found myself wanting to hear more from the guest; focus on his poem - why immediately bring yours?!

    Finally, I notice... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Facing Fate with Andrew Balfour
Q: Why do some people cope better than others?
One protective factor is early security of attachment, leading to better adaptation during later life vulnerabilities.
Facing Fate with Andrew Balfour
Q: What did you mean by that?
Vulnerability can be threatening in later life due to early experiences of dependency that may have been traumatic.
Overwhelmed with Claudia Hammond
Q: Where do you think that feeling of completeness is so important?
The boundary between work and rest blurs, especially when working from home, leading to difficulties in acknowledging the need for rest.
Overwhelmed with Claudia Hammond
Q: Do you think we're more overwhelmed than we were, say, 10 years ago?
It's an interesting question. When looking at surveys, people now have more spare time than in the past, yet it feels overwhelming. We feel less in control and are bombarded by constant demands for our attention.
The Good Enough Mother with Professor Alessandra Lemma
Q: What can mothers do to repair ruptures in their relationship with their children?
Reopening channels of communication is essential, and where appropriate, a true apology acknowledging how one's actions have hurt the child is crucial.
