  • Useful and Personable

I love this podcast and the energy from Quint, Allie, and Logan. Not only do they discuss relevant and useful financial information, their stories help you relate to them as a real person. Quint’s relationship with Allie reminds me of mine and one of my employees. The beginning episodes helped me build financial literacy. The later episodes dive into specific topics depending on the questions they receive. Every year they also review the basics again, which I love. Because of the podcast I have ... more

  • Meh

The chatter is annoying. It almost feels like bro culture and I’m not here for it. I don’t care about marathons or that you gave up caffeine. Content is good, but leaving cause the chatter is annoying as humanely possible.

  • Get to the point

I found this podcast, not as informative as it could have been. It seemed like the hosts were more interested in having a conversation and carrying on versus discussing the topic at hand. The first settlements of podcast I didn’t get on topic. I had to turn off halfway through. If you want to hear banter and not learn, this is likely podcast for you.

  • Where is Daniel?

Is Daniel still on the podcast? I held out hope because he was still in the intro but now they have changed that to Ally. 🙁

  • 90% irrelevant stuff

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Roth v. Taxable Account
Q: How much of the rest of my savings should I put into Roth IRA versus a taxable account?
It depends on your short- and intermediate-term goals, but if your emergency fund is sufficient, consider prioritizing contributions to a Roth IRA first.
Rule of 4% - Am I on Track for Retirement?
Q: I'm looking at different retirement ages, withdrawal rates and stock market returns. Should I approximate the stock market's average 8% return as continuous compounding or as compounding only once a year?
The hosts suggest you should use an annualized rate to compound that for 20 years, considering market volatility.
Stock Price Targets
Q: How is the price target developed and how long is that price target good for?
Price targets are typically developed based on market conditions and analyst reports, and they generally have a time horizon of about a year.
HYSA v. Money Market
Q: What is a money market account? When is that a better option than a traditional savings or high-yield account?
A money market account is a pooled asset vehicle that invests in very short term fixed income securities. It's better when considering the interest rates compared to traditional savings accounts or high-yield accounts, but one should be cautious about the risks involved.
Teaching your Kids about Finances
Q: What money lessons should I work on with my son who just started working?
Establish open dialogue about financial education, implement a structured saving plan like the 10-10-80 rule, and encourage discussions about saving for both short and long-term goals.
