  • Strangers on a Train

Thanks to the young aspiring screen critic I met on a train for suggesting Fade to Black when I said I missed The Film programme and was tired of the same voices like Mark Kermode and was looking for some different perspectives and couldn’t find anything. Sometimes the sound quality could be better but it really doesn’t stop me from listening and enjoying this unique show. It’s got me into the cinema more too. Thank you!

  • The socially conscious film-review podcast I’ve been looking for

Was looking for something new after going off Mayo and Kermode a bit. This was the perfect antidote. I enjoy the relaxed vibe and like to hear the opinions of multiple people. The critical discussion of the film industry as well as the reviews themselves are a welcome addition.

  • Fab new film pod

Fun movie/TV chats and quality criticism in one. Hanna Flint, Clarisse Loughrey, and Amon Warmann are a great team, and I appreciate how they give time to things, such as costume design, that many others don’t comment upon.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 233: Train Dreams, Wicked: For Good, with Felicity Jones and Clint Bentley
Q: So this is a film, Felicity, about a man going through the highs and lows of life as the world changes around him. I asked that to ask this. How has the business changed around you as you've made your way through it and evolved over the years?
I guess the consistent thing all the way through has been trying to find cool stories.
Episode 233: Train Dreams, Wicked: For Good, with Felicity Jones and Clint Bentley
Q: Clint, at what point did you know that he was gonna be the perfect guy to narrate this film?
Will, he narrated the audio book and he was close friends with Dennis Johnson in his life.
Episode 233: Train Dreams, Wicked: For Good, with Felicity Jones and Clint Bentley
Q: What sort of moments... Is that true? What sort of moments of unscripted stuff that made the movie that you're especially fond of?
You have to be quite playful and let things happen and let things unfold.
Episode 233: Train Dreams, Wicked: For Good, with Felicity Jones and Clint Bentley
Q: Felicity, I know that you and Joel have been trying to work together for a while. Have there been any projects where that was almost gonna become a reality?
This was definitely... It's funny how things just come together and it's in some ways, it was by chance.
Episode 232: Alpha, Keeper, with Tahar Rahim
Q: How do you feel about the way that people talk about, you know, the physical transformation aspect in acting?
Tahar Rahim emphasizes that while physical transformation is important, it is not the most significant aspect of acting. The emotional and psychological depth of the character is what truly matters, and the physical change serves as a means to access that depth.
