As a huge Mike Flanagan fan I might be biased when saying that this is a great podcast! The hosts are easy to listen to and know what they’re talking about. Insightful in art, film production, and Stephen King adaptations. They show the true sign of intelligence - when they don’t know something they’re not afraid to admit it (and sometimes they get the answers from Mike Flanagan himself). I even found their “least listened to episodes” on Henry James’ stories The Haunting of Bly Manor is based o... more
Wow. I can watch the episodes multiple times and not pick up on what Matt and Scott point out. Having loved kingslingers moving into Flanagan was a *chefs kiss * choice. Always wonderful to hear the guys discuss the work of Mike and pose questions that help me to be more critical about what I’m consuming. Y’all said you’d run out of reviews but honestly, we probably just lazy. Keep it up!
I followed my fellow Kingslingers over here to Flanagan’s Wake and, man, I’m glad I did. When I found out Flanagan was going to be at the center of Matt and Scott’s next podcast, I was elated. While I’ve not seen all of Flanagan’s works, I was familiar with his Netflix projects and I couldn’t wait to follow my two favorite hosts into their deep dive of his cinematic universe. I look forward to every new episode and it’s made me look at some of my favorite series with a new light. I recommend thi... more
Meh, I loved listening to Matt and Scott discuss books, I had never really heard of Mike Flanagan before this podcast and came into it with an open mind but I am just finding it hard to care about Flanagan’s work, the best part has been reading the source material. Listening to Kingslingers used to be something I looked forward to all week, this podcast feels like a chore to get through. If you don’t care about lighting, oners, wardrobe or acting there isn’t much to this podcast. I really, reall... more
The dynamic duo who brought us Kingslingers (an in-depth review of Sai King’s Dark Tower series, and related works) are back to scrutinize Mike Flanagan’s work, and they couldn’t have chosen a better subject. It’s been exceedingly fun to revisit Flanagan’s movies and series, with the bonus of listening to Scott and Matt’s analysis and discussion about similarities, differences, and the ongoing growth of Flanagan’s craft.
