  • Welcome Ronni

Today's podcast about Jesus and your relationship with him touched my heart. I especially appreciated your comments about your longing to meet him one day Ronni. Thanks for the great content that encourages me to walk more closely with Christ and his bride the church.

As a first time listener to the podcast I am adding For the Church Podcast to my “must listen” list!! I am a big podcast listener and rarely leave a rating….this show needs to get pushed to the top of the list of recommendations for new listeners!!

Jared, as you talked about journaling scripture, not as a theological study but just as God was speaking to you in your circumstance, I thought, “The word is living and active….”(Heb 4:12) I too was raised in the church and could give a clear explana... more

  • Thanks, Ross, and Don’t Be a Freeloader

I always enjoy the podcast and loved the latest episode with the send off for Ross. Ross was my advisor when he first came to MBTS and was very helpful in guiding through my MTS studies.

I don’t agree with every opinion on the podcast, but I do learn and am encouraged by with each episode. Ross, now that you are back to full-time pastoring, don’t be a freeloader and leave a review for this podcast!

  • For the Church, or For the Reviews?

I have listened to the “For the Church” podcast for several years now and have found it both profitable and enjoyable.

Although I have often winced over the years when Jared asked listeners for a “5-star” review, rather than an “honest” or “thoughtful” review, in recent months, Jared and Ross’s emphasis on reviews has become distracting at best. However tongue-in-cheek references to listeners who do not leave reviews as “freeloaders” are intended to be, the term suggests a transactional relatio... more

Deacons
Q: What is the difference between elders and deacons?
Elders focus on the ministry of the word and prayer, while deacons focus on service.
Deacons
Q: What do you think some of that confusion is about deacons?
There's not a lot of people aspiring to be deacons, which is a shame as it's an ordained office.
FTC Mailbag
Q: How do you see the gospel presented in Luke chapter 6, verses 17 through 49?
It's important to recognize that the gospel hasn't reached its apex at this point; we see Jesus fulfilling the law and urging us to live according to kingdom ethics, even as we acknowledge our need for grace.
FTC Mailbag
Q: How do you know when your socializing limit has actually been reached?
It's about recognizing when socializing costs you versus being enjoyable, and knowing that prioritizing your well-being is essential in ministry.
FTC Mailbag
Q: Do you have a membership covenant where a signature is part of the process?
We do have a membership covenant where a signature is a part of the process, and concerns about this can be navigated by communicating the importance and understanding of church leadership.
