Ultimately this is a “Mary Sue,” but the cleverest and most thorough I’ve ever come across. Having a brilliant, appealing female protagonist so convincingly inserted into the Holmes world is immensely satisfying. Some may find it too edgy; I thought it was genius. More, please?
I have a long list of issues with this show, but the on-stage pet killing and on-stage child torture and many instances of homophobia are sufficient to warrant a 1 star review. The entire plot revolves around mental illness, which is presented as entirely murderous and criminal, no nuance. Lots of the kinds of shallow “causes” for mental illness that reveal true disinterest in actual mentally ill people, though there’s plenty of fascination with the character. Mental health fares no better here ... more
Excellent writing -- pulpy storytelling that genuinely has you on the edge of your seat. Genius' take on Jim Moriarty is one of the most fascinating and skin-crawling villain characters I've come across. Production quality is generally professional and slick -- this podcast's biggest flaw is the accent work, which is patchy at best and sometimes can be quite distracting. Hopefully the team can work with an accent coach for season two, which I really hope happens.
I promise you, you will not regret listening to this podcast. It is excellent in every sense of the word. The sound production is excellent. The voice acting is worthy of any award it gets or had received.
Give you time and full attention.
This audio drama is definitely like television for your ears. I am so glad I found it and can’t wait for the second season.
Amazing production values with top-notch writing and acting to match. Fingers crossed that they come back for season 2.
One of the best contemporary reimaginings of Sherlock Holmes with compulsively complicated characters. Sabine Moriarty is an intriguing addition.
Honoured to be among the group to receive the sneak peek episodes, and now that it’s available to everyone, we can all enjoy this fantastic, original, story. Come out and hear the stars of POD-WAY perform a unique vision of some of literature’s iconic characters.
Wow, this show has flair. Mitchell Cohen is perfect as Jim Moriarty, giving Andrew Scott's flamboyant psychopath version a run for his money. He wreaks havoc in casually brilliant ways and ably channels that repulsive charisma of villains you love to love and hate. The way he and Sabine circle each other as well as Sherlock Holmes kept me on the edge the whole time. The entire cast is superb. If there is one issue with this series, it's that the cliffhanger ending is particularly dissatisfying f... more
