As cliché as Newton’s axiom “standing on the shoulders’ of giants” has become, for geologists this is especially true. Most of our geological expeditions are targeted based on previous hints provided by the field geologists of yore. Whether it be the orogenic history responsible for James Hutton’s famous unconformity at Siccar Point or Heim Gansser’s Himalayan expeditions disguised as a Buddhist p... more

These guys did a good job of telling these stories, I love to hear about the adventures of the geologist from the past!
The balance struck between telling an exciting story and working through geological concepts and theories was engaging and fun! I am so exited for a educational podcast that engages its listeners with one of the best tools in an earth scientist’s toolkit - good storytelling. Looking forward to more episodes!!
Loved the first episode - can’t wait for more!
Really enjoyed the podcast! I don’t know any of this history and it is fascinating to hear these details, shared in such an engaging manner. Well done! Looking forward to the next on:

It is impressive to see the evolution of such an important theory, which nobody approves at the beginning, but which is finally proven and accepted, and that from it it has been possible to continue making a more in-depth study on plate tectonics, an amazing process that keeps the earth in constant change. Currently I study geology at the university and it is really wonderful to study and know how when and why of the formation of continents, the different locations of ... more
The Geological Expeditions of Yore’s first episode was so fun to listen to. The story telling includes passion, theatrics, and beautiful sound design. I enjoyed learning more about a geological icon, even though I’m not a geologist myself. I am excited to see what else the Geology Podcast Network puts out.
What greater explorers exist than the ones who studied our very planet? To hear their stories and learn about their adventures has been a treat! Can’t wait for more!
