  • Informative Podcast

Updated review: Still a good show with very good information. The the sing-song “keep grace in focus” at the end is somewhat annoying. If they are looking for a slogan, that is a good one, however, it doesn’t need to be delivered with varying degrees of silliness. The fairly recent addition of announcements, ads, etc. in the middle of the show is a bridge too far. It is out of place and really disrupts the flow of the show. Reconsider, please.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Does John 5:45-47 Teach There Is a Difference Between Trusting and Believing?
Q: Is there a difference between trusting in someone and believing in them?
Yes, there is a difference between the words translated trust and believe in John 5:45-47, reflecting different meanings in both English and Greek. However, it's important to note that this distinction is not about eternal life—it concerns how people misunderstood the law in the context provided by Jesus.
What Is the Difference in Having Eternal Life and Believing That Jesus Exists?
Q: How do we define the difference between believing for eternal life and believing that Jesus exists?
The difference lies in the object of faith; believing in eternal life is connected to trusting in Jesus as the one who grants it, whereas merely acknowledging Jesus' existence doesn't equate to saving faith.
Why Is the Saving Message Absent in the Synoptic Gospels?
Q: What would be the implications of the Catholic Church promoting a focus on free grace theology?
While the focus on free grace would be positive, the hierarchical structure of the Catholic Church, requiring adherence to a central authority, would be seen as unhealthy for local church independence.
Why Is the Saving Message Absent in the Synoptic Gospels?
Q: Why is the explicit saving message absent from the synoptic Gospels?
The synoptic gospels focus more on discipleship rather than on clear evangelistic messages. Their purpose is not to evangelize but to instruct believers on discipleship.
Does One’s View of the Gospel Affect Discipleship?
Q: Do you have any recommendations for discipleship programs that have a free grace perspective?
Yes, they are working to publish a Bible study and guide based on the book of Revelation and Ken Yates' commentary on Hebrews.
