We dig into the stories behind Halo 2's incredible multiplayer maps, cut and abandoned maps that didn't make it into the final game, never-before-seen features like Force Walls, and lots more.
Max and a special guest dive into the stories behind what it took to deliver Halo 2’s groundbreaking online innovations - parties, clans, matchmaking, the ranking system, cut features, and much more.
In the series premiere, we cover Max's early days at Bungie, the first Halo multiplayer prototypes, Halo 2’s “Warfare” game mode, Halo 2 design decisions, cut multiplayer modes, and more.
It’s great to hear the behind-the-scenes and features that were cut of the game due to time and resources. Truly halo 2 had such an impact on the gaming world. I hope you guys get together again for a halo 3 deep dive!
Easy listening and love the inside look at one of the most iconic games. Just wish there were more episodes! Campaign, HCE, H3, etc.
Such a fun listen, and its so cool to get insight into the development of halo 2’s multiplayer. I would love it if we got a halo 3 artifacts too!!
An absolute must-listen for any Halo fan, and what a trip down memory lane. It’s great to hear insiders talk about Halo 2’s development in such a casual, open way. I only wish there were more than four episodes.
Insightful, informative, some other i-word. It’s amazing how Max’s perspective reveals so much about Halo 2, Xbox Live, and so many features industry-standard that Halo pioneered. It seems like over half the industry has its roots in something Bungie did back in the earlier days! Parties, friend lists, voice chat, the idea of video games as a community hub? The modern industry really needs to reflect on this and how we’ve fallen from grace. I owe you a beer, Halo 2 Bungie devs.
