  • Intrusive Episodes…

Hyperfixed, along with at least two other Radiotopia shows, started dumping “Intrusive Episodes” into their feeds. These are unwanted, unpredictable, and often disruptive. These Intrusive Episodes are random episodes of other people’s podcasts, with no introductions or explanations.

I don’t use Apple Podcasts for my listening, but this seemed like a big enough reason to open an app I really dislike using. Hyperfixed is an entertaining show, but I’m leaving it behind… I get enough Intrusive Thou... more

  • Sloppy storytelling

Listening to the uncut apple interview made me realize what a world of difference there is between the conclusions drawn in the story and the actual primary sources. The guy they base their theory on is a LinkedIn influencer. Not an expert. Just a guy who stays in a lot of hotels and has a lot of followers on LinkedIn. He also makes a wild leap about a totally different kind of Apple than the one in question.

Find a way to make it hilarious, yet informative. A whole story about... apples? A fruit Alex doesn't even like? Brilliant. He is the only podcaster who I give a pass for the occassional "uh" and "um" which, under most circumstances, illicits a "grrrr" from me. And he likes synthesizers. But more importantly, he finds his... more

Sailing into the Unknown with Joe Rhodes
Q: Are you planning to continue covering the Villavi?
My inclination is to let someone else write about it because I feel too close to it to write with objectivity.
Sailing into the Unknown with Joe Rhodes
Q: What do you think will happen to the Villavi's voyage?
I think the ship can limp along, but ultimately, I'm skeptical about its long-term viability and the financial sustainability of its operations.
Sailing into the Unknown with Joe Rhodes
Q: How does it feel to be off the ship?
It feels incredibly weird to be off the ship; I've only been off for three days and I still feel the effects of being at sea.
A Song About Ethan
Q: What are some of your thoughts on the Ethan Poop songs?
Most of them were really discordant in a way that I was like, well, it's very reasonable that this could be fake for AI.
Presenting Proxy with Yowei Shaw: Alex and the Impossible Ask
Q: What is your worst fear if you ask for money?
Alex fears that people will not only not want to give him money but will also stop listening to the show altogether.
