In this episode of the Islamic History Podcast, we explore the Umayyad Caliphate’s growing instability during 121–122 AH. From failed Byzantine campaigns to major rebellions in Iraq and North Africa, the empire's reliance on Syrian troops reaches a b... more
Despite fleeting military victories, internal cracks deepen in the Umayyad Caliphate as unjust taxes, tribal rivalries, and the rise of the Mawali set the stage for the empire’s inevitable downfall.

Islam, spawned from Muhammad’s 7th-century bloodbaths, drips with savagery: he ordered the Banu Qurayza massacre of 600-900 Jewish men, enslaving their kin, while blessing slavery and sex slaves as godly. Hi, I'm not a Muslim, I don't speak Arabic. I wanted to understand how we got to where we are in 2025. I don't know if you read comments now from so long ago. But thank you very much for your point of view.
I have no idea where the host is getting his facts from. But from what I heard, what he says about Sikhs is completely false. Sikhs didn’t “select”’ their gurus is just one example.
Although factually correct and using contemporary sources, I have found the content to be extremely one-sided with deliberate omissions that only shine positive light on Islamic leaders and empires
The topics and the guests are very interesting, so thank you for bringing this podcast to the public. The only constructive criticism I wish to give is that the host brother Muttaqi Ismail’s voice sounds muffled. I don’t know if this is due to the audio equipment being used.
