As a bi-ble nerd, this podcast deeply enriches me intellectually and spiritually. I couldn’t have dreamed a podcast could be so academically serious, entertaining, and an affirming contemplative religious practice. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge wisdom and spirit!
!!! J. and Sue and David are a dream! Wisdom and Bible know-how all over the place, taking us thru a book that hasn’t always felt friendly in others’ hands. I’m learning so much and it’s healing and intriguing. And joyful!
As a person with a complicated relationship with my faith (which is, ya know, most people, I’m guessing), I found the insights on biblical texts from a queer perspective so helpful and so much more well-researched than anything I’ve previously heard. Plus the format is a delight — J, Sue, and David are a HOOT and I’m laughing out loud multiple times an episode. This one’s worth it, whether you’re a person of faith or not!
A fresh new look at a timeless classic: the Bible. Combining irreverent fun with intellectual rigor, It’s in the Book is a romp through Bible stories, both familiar and obscure, from a thoroughly modern perspective. References to the original Hebrew text inform discussions of meaning and interpretation, which are kept lively by the hosts’ excellent chemistry. Highly recommended for everyone from biblical scholars to the casually curious.
