Great show! 🎶“Random bits of Knowledge with Patrick!” 🎵
I have been listening to this podcast for a couple years now and always enjoy having it on while I'm working on my projects. I find it to be entertaining and educational. I also frequent the MakingComics website to pick up tricks and tips on creating comics.
Great podcast. Love listening to other artists stories and what they are up to. Can't wait for each episode.
Been listening religiously. They've helped me get my comic done.
The recent comic fuel additions have been awesome!
Making Comics is an indispensable resource for anyone who wants to start making comics or increase their ability. Wide ranges of topics are discussed in an approachable interview format. As if that wasn’t enough, the podcast is part of a larger knowledge base comprised of a website with educational material and a vibrant community. This effort focuses on the potential of comics and moves beyond restrictive notions of specific genres, geolocation, and traditional publishers. The belief is that an... more
I really enjoy listening to Adam talk to new artists in the comic community each week. What an amazing resource for comic creators.
I found Gutter Talk out of necessity. I'm working on a small graphic novel and aiming to break into comics and stay there. I'm realizing how long it takes me to finish just one page in comics (discovering the problem of perfectionism), and until I can work faster and smarter, I take a while to draw things out to my standards. Which means, I now subscribe to a few podcasts to self-educate and motivate WHILE drawing! Gutter Talk is pretty casual, but every episode offers gems of experiential wisdo... more
I have been a fan and a avid listener of Making Comics podcast since the days when Jason Brubaker was at the helm.
I was skeptical at first when I heard that a new team took over what he was trying to do there and it took me a few months to give them a chance. When I did finally come around to it not only I was not disappointed but I felt they were bringing it to the next level.
As they stated a few times, their purpose is to create a powerful tool to help creators produce their comics by provid... more
If you're considering making comics, or any story really, these podcasts are a must listen. Entertaining and full of information you wouldn't be able to learn without working in the industry for years.
Great interviews with people who are actually working in the industry. Shares a great amount of real world experience. They've had some of my favorite authors on recently (Ethan Nicolle, Doug TenNaple, David Peterson) and this podcast is well worth checking out!
An inspiring podcast. These artists and writers share everything with the audience, keeping no secrets. I've listened to each episode multiple times, it always gets me in the best mood possible to work on my comics.
A great look at the reality of creating a story and putting it out into the world -- both inspiring and refreshingly practical. It gives you a behind-the-curtain look at making comics which is entertaining for any comics fan, and is genuinely helpful and motivating for aspiring artists of any kind, without glossing over the hard work involved.
This podcast is often better than listening to music while you draw. Very real and upbeat without sugar coating the amount if work you have to put in. I a huge fan of Jason Brubaker and this podcast really brings these "creators" down to earth in an accessible way.
Love the largely unstructured format! Lots of useful comicking information punctuated with hilarity and strangely deep insights on life in general- worth a listen even if you're not into the comics side of it!
