  • A focus on the women. What about the children

How do children of single mothers fare statistically? Are they hugely, hugely more prone to:

    - depression

    - suicide

    - violence (victim and perpetrator)

    - drug abuse ?

And if they are how cruel can you be to bring someone into the world when there’s a massive chance they’ll be subjected to that? And for what? To satisfy some urge you have?

I would like to see discussion on the outcomes for children of single mothers.

  • Upsetting

I stumbled upon this podcast after making an appointment for a consultation with a fertility specialist to start this journey. I listened to the most recent episode at the time, which was an interview with a fertility specialist who happened to work at the same clinic where I booked. She was horrifically fat phobic, and said something about not being eligible for treatment if you “look like you eat 2 buckets of kfc every week.” I thought things were improving in the medical system, but this just... more

  • Love the content, hate the title!

Love this podcast so much, it was such a critical resource for me in my planning and research ahead of making the decision to become an SMBC. I just wish the title and intro wasn’t so dated and was a bit more inclusive (e.g. gender neutral and less heteronormative). That really puts me off and has precluded me from sharing the show with friends etc. Truly so grateful for this resource though, thank you Alisha!

This podcast is truly wonderful. I started from the first episode and have listened to a few so far. I’m in the early stages of my journey to becoming a solo mum, and many of the past experiences, pathways and challenges have resonated with me. It’s a beautiful, comforting and meaningful resource - thank you.
