I’m starting to find the barely concealed political radicalisation of Sir Richard Dearlove ruins the show, which I’d previously enjoyed. Openly pro-Brexit and pro-Trump but in a way that minimises the negative impacts of either of those populist projects as if no one should think it matters for national security. Why don’t the Greenlanders just take cash from Trump to become a US colony? Why is everyone talking about sovereignty? Surely as an ardent Brexiteer he should value the rights to self-d... more
Sir Richard, is completely off concerning Greenland, more or less green lighting US annexation ignoring obvious facts.
US can build and increase its bases in Greenland without needing approval from Denmark under the current treaties that US signed. They are also free to invest in mining.
So why the need to own it for “psychological reasons” as Trump states?
Hallo, I listen to the show to try and get a plurality of views. I feel I must protest, however, when Sir Richard’s hurt feelings from the Brexit debacle cause him to take a pop at the BBC for some perceived historical hurt. Surely as an intelligence specialist he understands that when the preponderance of evidence is on one side of an argument the reporting becomes different as the only people on the other tend to have extreme views c.f. The climate emergency
Very right wing, Dearlove lives in a different century. I used to be a fan of Kate but lately I’ve started thinking she’d be more at home on GB News.
