Really interesting and varied with fascinating expert guests. Highly recommended.
The best political/ historical podcast available
The historically oriented episodes, such as politics on trial, are often fascinating and well put together. But when Runciman turns his attention to contemporary matters what results is polluted by bias. The core thesis invariably boils down to this: if only political systems could be organised so that power rests exclusively with people who think like me and my mates then all will be well.
The subjects are usually fascinating but sometimes (for me) esoterically impenetrable.
David Runciman’s refusal to state his opinion as fact makes the conversations flow. So rare to listen to someone unabashed to reason on the fly and revise their prior assumptions.
Runciman is peerless.
