  • I love this podcast

I’m very much the type who’d be instantly identified as a lifelong Labour voter who’s increasingly frustrated with Keir Starmer, so it’s no surprise that I’m broadly sympathetic to this podcast’s point of view. Even so, it often gives me something to think about, and it definitely makes me laugh. I really enjoy it.

  • Patronising misogynistic language

Not what I expect from POD Save the UK. Coco Khan mud-rant referring to Shabana Mahmood as ‘love’ is patronising and misogynistic, whether or not you agree with her immigration policies. I don’t, but I don’t think Khan’s ranting helps and I much prefer the calmer though no less hard hitting approach of Nish Kumar.

  • No more AI please

Love the show, especially to get perspective on the U.S. in a thoughtful and engaging way. But please refrain from unnecessary use of ChatGPT and AI in general. It is absolutely terrible for the environment and it financially supports the tech bros who are currently dismantling democracy and decency as we know it.

  • Great Podcast

There’s almost definitely been some sort of brief to flood these type of podcasts with bad reviews recently (or maybe emboldened roundabout painters, idk). It’s so immature. Nish, Coco, you’re great hosts. It’s a great podcast. Long may it continue (and I’m sure it will).

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Reeves’s make-or-break budget: should the rich have paid more?
Q: Is this budget going to go anywhere to tackling that intergenerational fairness?
There's nothing here massively shifts that burden. The budget mostly gets the 26 billion from work, impacting those under 40 considerably.
Reeves’s make-or-break budget: should the rich have paid more?
Q: What did you think of Reeves' speech?
It's probably done just enough to keep those fractious backbenches at bay for a little bit. It was designed to calm the market and give them more time until the next pinch point with the election.
Much a-coup about nothing? Labour take all the wrong notes from the Tories
Q: How can you even enforce laws around controversial content in pornography?
Narayan states that the government will hold platforms accountable for harmful content, ensuring that those generating profits from shared content are also held responsible.
Much a-coup about nothing? Labour take all the wrong notes from the Tories
Q: What are these laws going to do about AI-generated child sexual abuse material?
Kanishka Narayan explains that new laws will empower targeted experts to identify and prevent AI-generated abuse materials before they spread.
Mahmood’s Moral Mission: Copy Reform’s homework
Q: Why are our energy bills so high?
Robert Palmer explains that the increase is because of the spike in global energy prices due to geopolitical issues, particularly the invasion of Ukraine and the reliance on gas.
