  • Love it, wish there were more women guests

Enjoyed the first two Taylor Swift episodes a lot and this pod is a very fun occasional listen, I wish more of the episodes I listened to had women included in the discussion. Especially with the early years of Taylor Swift, having two men intellectualize what it was like for teen girls when TS came on the scene was missing something. I’d love if in the Speak Now episode you have a woman on who can speak to what it was like to be going through girlhood during the debut-Speak Now eras.

Listener Mailbag: Answering Your Questions on Robyn, Taylor Swift, Tate McRae & More! (Patreon Preview)
Q: What are you speculating on the direction of this new music?
The hosts anticipate that Robyn's upcoming album will serve as a victory lap and hope for a return to bangers reminiscent of her previous work.
The Majesty of Rosalia's Lux (with Suzy Exposito) (Patreon Patreon)
Q: What is Rosalia's story as a musical tourist, and how has she faced criticism for cultural appropriation?
Suzy explains that while Rosalia was not from the region where flamenco originated, she embraced the style academically. Rosalia approaches different musical styles out of respect and curiosity, aiming to honor these traditions rather than appropriate them.
Listener Mailbag! Answering Your Questions about Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears & More
Q: Do you think that going back through an artist's catalog has ever significantly changed your opinion of them?
It rarely happens that I like an artist less after deep research; usually, I come away with new appreciation or understanding of their work.
Taylor Swift Season 1 Mailbag!
Q: Thoughts on her single strategies for Fearless but more so Speak Now?
I think Speak Now dips its toe into genre experimentation and introduces the idea that Taylor could make different kinds of music than the sort of like country pop of Fearless.
Taylor Swift Season 1 Mailbag!
Q: Could you see a world where she stayed in country music?
It was 100 percent inevitable that she crossed over to pop; it was just a matter of when and how.
