  • My kids favorite for years

My kids have loved this podcast since they were 4 and 6, and now they’re 10 and 12 and still enjoy it. The stories are longer and better than most kids’ podcasts and we always learn something new and interesting. Great for road trips or bedtime.

  • We always want more!

This podcast is so wonderful and so thoughtfully written. Each episode is a new adventure and my kids just eat them up. My younger one likes the same ones over and over and my older one is eager for each new adventure, since he’s listened to them all at this point. We absolutely love them!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Fact Fly: Why Were Dinosaurs So Big?
Q: If dinosaurs were big, were their babies huge too?
Even the biggest dinosaurs started small because they hatched from eggs.
Fact Fly: How Does WiFi Travel Through the Air ?
Q: How does Wi-Fi travel through the air?
By turning data into invisible ripples of energy that fly through the air and get caught by our devices.
Adventure Encore: A Robot Adventure, Part 1
Q: What are the three laws of robotics?
The three laws are, one, a robot must not injure a human or, through inaction, allow a human to come to harm. Two, a robot must obey orders given to it by a human, except where such orders would conflict with the first law. Three, robots must protect their own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first or second law.
Adventure Encore: A Robot Adventure, Part 1
Q: Dr. Issa, I'm a little confused. You say you worked at the Institute for Robots and Intelligent Machines, but I thought Intelligent Machine was just another name for robot.
Not exactly, Lauren. Not all robots are intelligent machines. A robot is an intelligent machine only if it can learn from its experiences, like people do.
Fact Fly: Why Do We Sneeze?
Q: Hi, Fact Fly. My name is Lucas, and I'm nine years old. I live in California. My question is, why do some people sneeze when they look at the sun?
About one in four people have something called the photic sneeze reflex, where exposure to bright light tricks the brain into thinking the nose is being tickled.
