〈大勢至菩薩念佛圓通章〉是淨土五經之一，淨土五經就是淨土三經再加上〈大勢至菩薩念佛圓通章〉及《華嚴經》的〈普賢行願品〉。
大勢至菩薩是西方極樂世界阿彌陀佛的兩大脇侍菩薩之一，另一位是觀世音菩薩，因為觀世音菩薩將來要繼承阿彌陀佛成佛，因此阿彌陀佛以觀世音菩薩為第一位大弟子，而大勢至菩薩是繼觀世音菩薩之後成佛，所以是阿彌陀佛的第二個佛子，也就是第二位大菩薩。我們修淨土法門，臨命終時，如果是上品的蓮花，是由阿彌陀佛親自來接引，如果是中品、下品就是由觀世音菩薩、大勢至菩薩來接... more
