Revisionist History is Malcolm Gladwell's journey through the overlooked and the misunderstood. Every episode re-examines something from the past—an event, a person, an idea, even a song—and asks whether we got it right the first time. From Pushkin Industries. I’ve enjoyed listening to Revisionist History over the years, if not in agreement, I have always respected Malcolm‘s approach and his ability to cause question. Although unfortunately, after listening to the Alabama Murders, I cannot say that I express the same opinion anymore. If I were the family of Elizabeth, whose murder was pushed aside, more of an afterthought for Malcom’s agenda and bias I would be deeply saddened. I also feel after the brutal attack and murder of a woman in her own home,... more
This used to be charming, enlightening and interesting unmissable listening for me. But in recent seasons it has become increasingly longwinded and less engaging. The subjects are too long and drawn out and don’t keep my attention. This is just my personal experience but a whole season just on Gun violence (as important as that topic if for Americans) seems excessive to me and I could make it all the way through. Hoping for more concise and interesting topics in the future kept to one or two epi... more
I have been a fan of Gladwell’s books and discovered this podcast, so I thought I’d listen. It was Season 14. I was not prepared. It broke me. The weeping commutes I endured felt necessary compared to the lived injustice and horrific death. I’ve been enjoying the lighthearted episodes since and am grateful for this podcast.
I find that it’s Malcolm’s Canadian background that he finds saying he was wrong, or changing his mind, or seeing someone else’s take on something as better than his, so easy.
I just finished listening to this three part podcast about education. Malcolm Gladwell asks the tough questions and penetrates to underlying issues and values in our society. He has given me a lot to think about.
