Episodes feature a discussion on some aspect of rhetoric, some untranslated Latin or Greek, some tasty bonus content: a fallacy, a historical tidbit, or a stylistic device to help improve your rhetoric. ... more

Just found out about this podcast from the Big Rhetorical Podcast Carnival. I’ve only listened to a few shows from season one and have enjoyed them. Will catch up on the rest soon!
Please refrain from using the N-word in all future podcasts. Its a violent word, and the last people who should say it are two old white males such as yourselves
Really interested in the topic but had to stop listening after 4 episodes because of the one hosts’ CONSTANT “witty” sidebars that do not contribute but distract. The host Tim is wonderful and I wish I could hear him uninterrupted .
I like this podcast. Wish it was more often. I do have a comment. John Hanson was the first President in the United States. I think there were 7 before George Washington. The “Fact” statement that would be correct was “ George Washington was the first elected president of the United States.”
The Fire and Brimstone episode was a torturous preview of the destiny of the unrepentant: eternal, conscious torment.
This is a great podcast that focuses on rhetoric. It gives my students enough of a primer to get a good understanding of the various concepts in rhetoric and is funny enough to keep their attention. And I enjoy the inside jokes, the word play, and the fake ads from the hosts.
I’ve taught AP Language in Southern California for about ten years. Very few resources are as direct and applicable for regular students as the episodes provided thus far. There is enough depth here to catalyze new activities, but not mired in history or jargon to make it unpalatable for a an honors level high schooler. Good for me as a teacher and good for students as introductory or review material. Subscribe now.
