  • Best podcast to actually understand how to run the numbers.

This is the first podcast I’ve rated because CJ is definitely worth it. The only podcast that makes me love my work in finance and the people that do this work, while actually helping me get better (not just repeating an article from the WSJ or some blog on startups and finance). Great stuff that keeps getting greater.

How Finance Becomes a GTM Partner, Not a Bottleneck | Chris Brubaker
Q: How have you designed the deal desk experience so finance is seen as a partner instead?
It's such a setting guardrails that are high enough that you have to spend deal desk time with reps on deals that are ultimately you're going to say yes to.
How Finance Becomes a GTM Partner, Not a Bottleneck | Chris Brubaker
Q: How do you think about setting pricing guardrails that protect margin, but don't kill the momentum of a deal?
A lot of it is really having a deep understanding of the market you're operating in. I spend a reasonable amount of my time keeping an eye on the market and understanding what are our competitors doing, how do we differentiate and position ourselves against our competitors?
How Finance Becomes a GTM Partner, Not a Bottleneck | Chris Brubaker
Q: What was your number one priority when you shared up?
Number one priority was getting the financial model put together in a way that investors would have confidence in it with the full three statements instead of just a revenue number dragged to the right for 10% growth month over month forever.
How the Best CFOs Lead Without Being the CEO | Ken Stillwell
Q: What does that vigilance actually look like in practice regarding company culture?
It's about building relationships with people before you have to have a conversation about values and behaviors.
How the Best CFOs Lead Without Being the CEO | Ken Stillwell
Q: Can you talk about how you balance basically your whole view of the P&L and where the company is going and then the anecdotes that come from the field and how comp plans are working?
It's important to build an environment where the sales teams feel they can come and talk to you and feel that you'll be fair.
