This episode centers on Brigham Young’s insistence that death does not transform us into something fundamentally different, but removes limitations that currently slow us down. Drawing directly from a funeral sermon, the discussion highlights how emb... more
We begin the episode with a response to a litner’s email about signs of the times of the Savior’s Second Coming. Gerrit shares a sermon from Brigham Young that Wilford Woodruff said was one of the greatest sermons he had ever heard.

We begin this week's episode by asking if Gerrit is the reincarnated Apostle Matthias? (He’s not saying he is, but he is also not not saying it.)

When there is nothing else.
Actually my favorite podcast when I binged all of the free content in 10-12 weeks just to realize I would now have to wait another two years to join a tour! Litner for life!
Another impossible to document fact - I first got hooked on finding more from Garrit after hearing him on a FAIR podcast before Hank & John’s.
The Standard of Truth is easily my favorite find this year. It feels like sitting in on a BYU masterclass that’s being held in a comedy club. Gerrit and Richard have a gift for taking complex historical documents and making them feel relevant to our lives today with using credible primary sources.
Solid 10 stars!
Oh, Hank and John, the dynamic duo of religious enlightenment! Their podcast is like a breath of fresh air.
This is not that, but if you’re stuck in a room with nothing better to do, this podcast isn’t that bad. If you’re having trouble sleeping, locked in a car by a peace officer (or your parents), or curious about townships, it’s a pretty good bet. Just don’t expect immediate translation (or quick answers).
I am a premium subscriber. This is probably the best church related podcast that I have ever heard. And I listen to several very good ones. Worth Every Cent. Can't thank you enough.
The best Church History podcast I have ever heard. Who knew that listening to Statler and Waldorf argue about rice tariffs and the Nycean Creed would be so entertaining.
