  • 11/13/25 episode re “regular” troops

Vis a vis your discussion about the use of the National Guards it seems to me the order of use would logically be:

    Local law enforcement

    State law enforcement

    National guard activated by state

    Federal troops

    National guard from other states

If a governor does not deem it necessary to activate his national guard and is not being asked to by law enforcement the idea that the president can do so seems like an obvious overreach.

I don’t understand the logic used to justify the idea that federa... more

Looking forward to your take on the 8 traitor Dem senators. Continually caving is why I and probably many other working people left the Democratic party years ago.

  • Always Thought Provoking

I have now joined The Contrarian, but missed a chance to grab the discount on a Talking Feds substack, so I'm limited to the podcast.

I listen regularly from my little tree branch in Geert Wilders' wilderness, and for all the differences between the US (my birth country) and NL, the loss of decency and the gross indifference to the devolution of democratic norms and rule of law has bone-chilling parallels. If you haven't heard of the horrific scandal at the Dutch Tax Authority, (given effectiv... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

John Roberts: Umpire or Ultimate Decider?
Q: Is your ultimate view that he's sort of both, but when the chips are down, he goes one way or another?
Graves suggests that Roberts presents as an institutionalist when it serves his interests, but increasingly aligns with a more partisan agenda.
John Roberts: Umpire or Ultimate Decider?
Q: At the highest level, what's the broader narrative of the Roberts Court that you're using all these different doctrinal areas to try to argue?
Graves argues that the Roberts Court has not merely acted as impartial arbiters but has actively worked to change legal and democratic rules for regressive ends.
Molly Mashup: "They're Not Doing 15 Dimensional Chess"
Q: What seems like illegal demands being placed on universities?
Litman explains the coercive nature of demands on universities, stating that while threats are made, legal actions have not succeeded in enforcing these demands, exemplifying the administration's intertwined tactics with civil society.
Molly Mashup: "They're Not Doing 15 Dimensional Chess"
Q: Can we talk about ways in which members of this administration who've done illegal stuff can be held accountable?
Litman states that while there are plenty of ways and possible crimes regarding the administration, including accusations of war crimes and corruption, he predicts little will actually happen due to political dynamics.
Can a New Kind Of Liberalism Take Hold?
Q: What do you mean and prescribe? And about what liberalism and progressivism is currently doing wrong such that its ideas are not gaining purchase with the American people?
Jerusalem critiques that many liberals assume those who disagree with them are either stupid or manipulated, rather than acknowledging there can be reasonable disagreements based on differing life experiences and values.
