How many more times are political pundits like Robert going to push out this false nonsense about the richest paying the lion’s share of total tax take. They simply don’t. They pay the lion’s share of the income tax take, but their wealth doesn’t come in income, does it? It comes from dividends and capital gains which are both taxed at lower rates than earnings, and it comes from property income, on which they don’t pay NI. Please Robert, stop with your inaccurate and lazy analysis.
The content’s decent, but I literally scream out loud for Robert Preston to hurry up and make his point. This type of ‘thinking time’ on mics is painful for a podcast format and the producers need be braver and have a word. They must hear it themselves.
Considering the resources of ITN’s news gathering, this really exposes its personnel as being very poorly informed on many topics.
