  • Lots of great advice to help you cross the great divide from aspiring writer to published author!

As a recently published debut author myself, I can identify with a lot of the experiences and advice on this podcast. I particularly enjoyed the latest episode including the interview with literary agent and critic Sam Bernard.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Holly Cardamone on pre-launch strategies, communications and why publishing is a marathon, not a sprint
Q: Did you always dream of being a writer?
Yes, and I always knew that my passion was to create stories, although I took a different path for a while.
The Publishing Deal: Publisher, Tom Langshaw, on the strongest elements in a fiction manuscript, what to include in your submission pitch, and industry trends
Q: When you read something new, what is it that excites you about it?
I look for something that connects with me, particularly voice-driven and character-driven works.
The Publishing Deal: Publisher, Tom Langshaw, on the strongest elements in a fiction manuscript, what to include in your submission pitch, and industry trends
Q: What do you find exciting about new manuscripts?
It's about voice for fiction; I really need to connect with the voice of a character or narrator.
Kidlit superstar Kate Foster on managing multi-publications, co writing, celebrating diversity and being a good industry citizen
Q: Do you have any time management tips for us or just staying motivated?
At the beginning of every year, I'm tremendously motivated. Deadlines are tough, and if you're not going to make your deadline, tell your editor in advance.
Kidlit superstar Kate Foster on managing multi-publications, co writing, celebrating diversity and being a good industry citizen
Q: Can you tell us why it's important to be a good industry citizen?
It's multi-layered. It is a solitary job a lot of the time, so having community keeps you going. The industry is riddled with rejection and disappointment, and having people that understand and don't judge is golden.
