  • Oh, brother.

Second season is unbearable garbage. Between all of the main “girlfriends” being hopelessly full of themselves, it’s clear they wanted to find their missing “sister” in order to create a second season and keep that ad money rolling in. Rolling in it must be, because they have repetitive ads for 1/3 of each episode (seriously, it’s like 10 minutes for every 32). The real kicker is they didn’t do anything. The case was already solved, so that whole season was just an exercise in futility. Give up ... more

  • Season 3 not for me

I really enjoyed Seasons 1 & 2. I laughed along and enjoyed the conversations of the ladies. Season 3 so far has just not been for me. The whole victim hood is hard to hear be blamed for everything that went wrong in Kelly’s life. At some point she made her own choices also. I hope this narrative changes at some point because it’s hard to sit through episodes after episode.

  • Loved season 1 but now disappointed

I loved the first season of this podcast but I’m not sure I like where it’s gone. In the penultimate episode of season 3, the interviewee says ‘People who have done harm and people who have been harmed - they’re the same people’. So if we take that statement back to the first series, is that what we’re saying about the abusive ex-boyfriend? I get that it’s nuanced, but I don’t really understand what we’re saying here.

It feels a big relief. Maybe this is the case for any writer, but with a story as intense as this, there's great relief in sharing it with other people.
The Girlfriends S3/E1: Hell's Gate
Q: Do you want to start us from earlier on that day, like what you had been doing?
Kelly recounts her experiences leading up to the night of July 6, 2010, detailing her struggles with addiction and her tumultuous relationship with Tommy.
The Girlfriends: Spotlight, E5: Rose Solves, At Least, 86 Cold Cases

Whatever department that handled your case, whenever it was, call them, because most departments across the country have cold case sexual assault teams now.

Only a woman can go undercover in woman's spaces, allowing for unique insights into the treatment of women in various societal institutions.
