Reviews

4.7 out of 5 stars from 13.1k ratings
  • Whenever this side show touches on my industries, the inaccuracies and lack of overall understanding become glaring.

E.g., with AI, they have a narrative they want to tell, whether or not it's true, and they completely fail to differentiate between the different types and uses of AI and thus effects and dangers.

Edit: Removing a star after yet another ep that giggles through endorsing Trump propaganda without a single second spent thinking about actual scientific reality and responsibility.

  • 5 minutes isn't enough for these topics

The show is simply too short to actually dive into its delightful topics. Each episode is nominally 10 minutes. Take out the ads, intro, and credits, and you're left with ~5 minutes to explore a complex economics issue. I really wish this wasn't the case, but I'm unsubscribing because the curiosity I get about the episode titles, followed by the unsatisfying shallowness of the content, is a real letdown and just bums me out now.

  • Layman’s Guide to the Economy

Great podcast without the typical economist jargon. Tending to focus more on social issues, and issues of economic fairness within the democratic republican systems.

While the social issues are often subjective, and sometimes missing key points, they also go into great detail on US history and the formation of the legal system that has created the economy we have today.

As a guy, I have yet to hear the author insist on accountability for men. It’s more “you’re not listening to the other side and that’s why they are taking away women’s rights.”

You can’t have a serious discussion about men’s issues without first treating the lack of accountability and self-introspection of men.

The economic hardships we endure are because of angry men who hate the world they find themselves in voting for men just like themselves. Men who look just like themselves but hate th... more

  • You must do better, it’s almost 2026

Why do you still use such horribly recorded audio ? How expensive is it to send the people you are interviewing a tiny mic before you record your interview ? Insanely bad on recent video game episode. Do better for the sake of our eardrums
