  • Mostly Great

Really like most of the episodes, especially with Benz interviewing. But this latest episode with Mike Pyle saying nothing with a lot of words was worse than useless - a waste of my time. The interviewer (not Benz) did a poor job by not holding him to giving coherent answers to the questions, just blah, blah, buzzwords and technical jargon, blah, blah. (Or maybe I’m just too dumb to comprehend?) Again, mostly great content, but this last interview was so bad it made me angry enough to review.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Morning Filter: Why 2026 Could Be a Breakout Year for Dividend Stocks
Q: What does the current stock buyback boom mean for dividend investors?
It means lower yields; historically, the yield on the US equity market was between 3 and 6 percent, but now it's only 1.1 percent, making it harder to get equity income from US stocks.
The Morning Filter: Why 2026 Could Be a Breakout Year for Dividend Stocks
Q: How have they held up compared to the broad US stock market?
Most of the dividend indexes have done well in absolute terms, but they've lagged the overall US equity market by a few percentage points due to their lower exposure to technology stocks, especially AI stocks.
Eric Jacobson: The Entire Face of the Bond Market Has Changed
Q: Do you think that going passive and fixed income is a mistake for investors?
I don't. I think if you are looking for some sort of core exposure to especially very high quality, highly liquid parts of the bond market, and you're not going to pay very much at all because hopefully most index funds are going to be pretty cheap, you can get a pretty good exposure that way and not really give much up.
Callie Cox: A Student Teacher of Financial Markets
Q: What advice would you give to a new investor just starting out?
Callie advises to take the first step with investing, emphasizing that even small contributions are valuable and will help overcome mental hurdles.
Callie Cox: A Student Teacher of Financial Markets
Q: How do you balance short-term noise with long-term investing fundamentals?
Callie explains that having a strong investment philosophy helps her to contextualize short-term market movements without losing sight of longer-term goals.
