  • A truly great story and the various characters and actors are just done perfectly. Cannot get enough of this and hope for more stories from this creator.

  • Bring it to the big screen

Expertly produced. exceptional voice acting, and a great story. My only complaints is that I wish Chartrulean would lighten up on his friends and I hope to see some of Havelion’s Journal entries, especially the battles, enhanced with all the characters and situations involved.

It would transfer well to a sci-fi series with a movie crescendo. I would love to see the voice actors bring their characters to life on the screen. It may be a challenge in some cases, but I don’t know if I could tol... more

  • A great political sci-fi audio drama that focuses on what happens after a space war is won. Fascinating worldbuilding, interesting characters with diverse goals and personalities, engaging plot. A great listen for any fan of character-driven sci-fi.

  • Interesting character development and a lot of moving parts

Although Chartrulean seems classified as a "space opera" or fantasy/sci-fi epic tale, often compared to all kinds of other fantasy and sci-fi tales, (Star Wars, Star Trek, pretty much anything else spacey someone recognizes,) it is, however, novel in its approach.

Comparisons are often a stretch, assigning vaguely relatable story elements and declaring similarity. If anything, Chartrulean has much more in common with the classic Japanese animated stories of the 1970's and early 1980's, althoug... more

  • Unquestionably the BEST Sci-fi podcast

The performances are incredible, the sound design is immaculate, and the story is sprawling and three dimensional. Just a gorgeous production all around.

  • This show is *the* standard- pure gold

There is nothing I would change about this show. It is perfect. If you are someone who loves lore rich, sci-fi akin to Dune and Foundation, you will not be disappointed. Production quality and acting are magnum class and the story is epic, intimate and nuanced.

If you love the genre- you will love this.

  • Listen to this for the sound design alone, as it's outstanding. But it's also deep, brooding, and that fun blend of scifi mixed with fantasy that works very well.

  • Dune meets Hunger Games meets Ender's Game

This is the perfect show for anyone who loves sci-fi and is looking for a captivating new world to get excited about. If you like the large scale space-politics of Dune, the social commentary of the Hunger Games, and the moral quandries of the advanced weaponry of Ender's Game, you'll feel right at home with the Madness of Chartrulean. The show manages to portray something entirely original in the sci-fi genre, particularly with its beautifully ethereal score and phenomenal voice acting. Well w... more

  • On the one hand, calling this show a space opera is doing it a disservice, because that term conjures stories like Buck Rogers or Star Wars, but on the other hand, this is exactly what it is. Like an opera, it is high class, epic and emotional. It is almost Shakespearean (but don’t let that put you off). The ethereal music, the excellent sound design, the brilliant performances all make this an outstanding immersive experience, the kind that can not be matched by a book or a film.

  • The creators of TMoC have absolutely mastered cinematic scifi audio drama. The music is immersive and incredible and complements the dream-like, atmospheric sound design perfectly. From the first minute, the show genuinely sounds other-worldly and it makes the complex, meticulous world building so believable. Usually I listen to audio dramas while performing household tasks or commuting but I find that I have to fully focus on TMoC to follow along. This only makes me appreciate the attention to ... more

  • A great story flawlessly executed

A great story can be let down by inconsistent or sub-par production values, and a show that sounds perfect will be hollow and forgettable if it isn’t in support of a compelling tale. This show combines both of those aspects in a way that I’d expect to hear from a big-studio production. Everything is outstanding - the acting, the writing, the sound design, the pacing… even if I wanted to nitpick I couldn’t. It’s incredibly immersive and beyond that the listener’s attention and focus is rewarded a... more
