  • Stop excusing men’s bad behavior!

Disappointed to hear the guys minimize the racism, sexual harassment, and violence endemic to the Red Bull team with the excuse being legacy - Marco’s Legacy, Horner’s Legacy, Max’s legacy… these men are problematic. The team has clearly been problematic. I’ve been an F1 fan for 40+ years and I’ve seen a lot - but it is time we stopped making excuses for men!

  • Blatant British Bias

I used to enjoy listening to what can be a very informative podcast. But unfortunately it has become hard to listen to with the overwhelming British bias. British drivers and teams can do no wrong. I don’t think it’s intentional but they are certainly not self aware enough to pick it up themselves.

  • Better, and Better Yet

Damon Hill offers vast experience, well brought out by Mark Hughes. I would listen to Mark Hughes if he was discussing corn flakes.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BONUS: Indycar at war! Ep. 2 - The nightmare attempt to rival the Indy 500
Q: Edd, Scott was still brilliant at this point. Did that make it less important to get these teams and drivers back to the Indy 500? Did it feel now, we're a few years in, the series is doing fine without Indy?
Edd notes that while the IRL seemed shaky and CART was still doing well, the underlying financial pressures meant CART needed to eventually return to the Indy 500, despite outward appearances.
BONUS: Indycar at war! Ep. 2 - The nightmare attempt to rival the Indy 500
Q: Jon, what was it like to be inside kart during this period in the late 90s, before the decline set in?
Jon reflects on the success of CART, stating that it felt like a successful endeavor, overshadowed by the annoyance of the IRL, and noted attendance remained strong during that period.
BONUS: Indycar at war! Ep. 3 - Peace in our time
Q: Did Tony George really want to unify the series?
No, many felt he never wanted to unify and primarily aimed to eliminate CART.
BONUS: Indycar at war! Ep. 3 - Peace in our time
Q: What made the difference this time? Why did it finally come together in 2008 after so many previous attempts had failed?
The dire situation of having dueling 18 car series and a realization that continuing the split was unproductive led to the eventual unification.
BONUS: Indycar at war! Ep. 3 - Peace in our time
Q: Does this ultimately boil down to an IRL versus CART issue? Was that the key deciding factor in the outcome?
Yes, the politics of the split had a significant influence on the decision-making and the outcome of the events surrounding the IndyCar split.
