I want to like this podcast SO BAD. The stories could be amazing but the host’s voice sounds like she’s trying too hard to sound “grimoire” and she ends up just sounding like a grimmed-out version of vocal fry. I am embarrassed for her. It’s annoying to try to follow the story. And if she’s using AI for vocals? 🤬…as a lifelong writer and creative myself, that’s unforgivable. Just tell us a story in your own voice, and I’ll raise my rating.

I was so excited about the Russian Hill series as I used to live on the tip top of Russian hill on filbert and Hyde. But the slow cadence and mispronunciations make it unlistenable. She reads like a robot, haulting and unnatural. Almost like she is reading from a teleprompter and she has caught up to the end of the prompt and has to wait for more words to populate on the screen.

I enjoy the information. However, the narrator speaks as a non-native American English speaker. The cadences, stresses, and manner of speech do not correspond with American English. It is very hard to listen, as I get hung up on how the narration does not flow.
