A Great way to learn how to learn analyze Poems. Each Episode, Thomas Banks does an amazing job Reading the Poem then analyzing it by giving information about the Author and the time of the Poem is written.

Each Poem is part of Seasons where Mr. Banks would go through different Themes from Love to

    Satire.

As a listener to the other Sister Podcast, The Literary Life, I do believe listening to a couple episodes a week will expand your appreciation of Poems and Writing.

  • Order in my soul

In the middle of a very hectic and emotionally charged and draining day, when I realized no amount of deep breathing was going to save me from going insane, I turned to poetry with Mr. Banks to order my soul again. Summer by Christina Rossetti. The beautiful reading, no over-analyzing and dissecting of the poem, but just a lovely invitation and guide into appreciating art. Thank you, Mr. Banks!

  • Who's this for? Not poetry lovers. Despite being a "literary life" Podcast, the speaker hates people who devote their life to literature, academics; is both very elitist and anti-intellectual; doesn't care much for literature. Compl.dismisses entirely lit. movements. Rails against the idea of thinking hard about a poem and avoids "over"interpretation. Gives the readings a bad aftertaste. The poems go woefully underinterpreted. Fundamentally uncurious about literature. A robot could do this show.... more
