Hey let’s give a platform to every sexual abuser! This is so irresponsible and disrespectful of cbc. This show needs to be removed. Disgusted.
The negative reviews here sadly miss the basic psychology of coercive control. This podcast accurately shows how high-control systems erode autonomy and disable normal decision-making. Personal agency is not absolute, and that fact threatens ppl and so they retreat to moral simplifications like “she’s a monster” to reassure themselves they’re immune to something like this happening to them. Explaining the mechanisms that led to harmful behavior (which this podcast does in detail) isn’t excusing ... more
Same with the pointless multi-part 2 season HBO series. A bunch of wannabe actors with family money get fooled by dumpy guru guy. Now the ex members appear in any and all media because they want to be actors and are desperate for attention.
I’m disappointed that this show is taking Allison’s version of every minute of this story. I can hear the manipulation, why can’t this journalist? It can be true that Allison was abused, and that she abused others. This deference to her own perspective and excuses disrespects other victims.
Well done imo. The comments here are harsh. Aside from scale and longevity, I don’t see a big difference between Scientology and nxivm. We’re lacking empathy if we can’t understand AM as both a victim and a perpetrator of coercive control.
