  • Great for all levels of wine lovers!

I absolutely love this podcast. Elizabeth has great energy and has a talent for explaining wine techniques and concepts in ways that are easy to understand without dumbing it down. I’ve listened to her throughout my own wine education and somm certification and still find it highly enjoyable and I ALWAYS learn something new. Definitely give it a listen if you enjoy wine.

  • Grateful for great listen

WFNP stresses joy of wine, nerdy tidbits and the people behind the juice. As a sommelier and wine drinker for 25 years, I learn so much but more so, this type of convo based pod stokes my interest in geographic areas I may skip over or not dig deep enough.

Going to her Patreon right now!

Ep 581: Wes Hagen - Santa Barbara Expert & Native9 Wines Brand Ambassador

Wes describes the unique geological and climatic conditions of Santa Barbara that support cool climate viticulture, detailing how the Transverse Range mountains influence the temperature and thus the varieties that can thrive there.
Ep 581: Wes Hagen - Santa Barbara Expert & Native9 Wines Brand Ambassador
Q: How did you become the go-to person for this? Was it that you just had had a lot of experience and people were saying, okay, can you do this?
Wes explains that it was a combination of Santa Barbara being ill-defined by the existing AVAs and his unique experiences and skills in writing and education that led him to take on the task of defining the Santa Rita Hills AVA and others.
Encore of Ep 448: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Terroir with Dr. Kevin Pogue, PhD
Q: What would you say to the claim that terroir is junk science?
Terroir can be understood through the concepts of vintage variation and is therefore extremely relevant; if one believes that vintage can affect the taste of wine, then terroir must also have an impact due to spatial climate differences.
Ep 572: Karen MacNeil, Wine Icon, Author of 'The Wine Bible', Co-Creator of Come Over October
Q: What can we do as wine lovers to foster the sense of community?
It is as simple as inviting someone to share wine, fostering goodwill and friendship, and doing it regularly with others.

Q: What are the terroir factors that make good Vernaccia?
