  • Ashes Preparation

Phil Walker is bang on that no-one will care about the NZ ODI series if we win the Ashes. But if this is supposed to be the future blueprint for Ashes preparation i guarantee we will lose many many more Ashes series than win them!!! I also suggest if we’d won the ODI series v NZ Phil Walker would now be talking about our batting breathing fire and being right up for the challenge, going into the series firing on all cylinders! Bethell now a shoe-in at 3 etc etc! If the ODI series has no relevanc... more

  • Excellent

Cricket is my obsession and Wisden cricket is just absolutely perfect for those cricketing fanatics. The in depth conversations about topics that are not always covered by many of the other cricket podcasts floating around is what always gets me excited. I’m a subscriber to their Patreon as well which is brilliant, the amount of content you receive from weekly shows, bonus episodes, on the day reviews of games and exclusive in the bubble interviews is without a doubt some of the best value for m... more

  • Wonderful Woakes !

A fabulous piece on Chris Woakes! An understated, underrated and world class bowler especially at home! Plus a good number of match winning batting performances! “The story of English cricket, over the last ten years, would have been much bleaker without him” as said by Ben Gardner is a fitting tribute for him!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Women’s Weekly: Why haven't England produced a world class batter in the last decade?
Q: Do you think young players coming through into the county setup now are less able at that point in their careers to kind of sit in and go down a gear slightly before taking off?
It's because we talk a lot about taking the positive step, which is completely right. But it's not quite a switch; you need to learn how to identify that situation, where you might have to come down a couple of gears and then go back up.
Ashes Daily: What changes can we expect after Stokes' honest post-game reflections?
Q: Who do you think he was talking about when he's talking about players not fighting hard enough?
It seemed like he was indirectly referencing players like Olly Pope, who received criticism for not capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
Ashes Daily: What changes can we expect after Stokes' honest post-game reflections?
Q: What did you make of what Stokes said to the media?
Stokes expressed sadness and disappointment regarding the team's performance and emphasized the need for improved effort and resilience from team members.

South Africa stun India and how much does Josh Hazlewood’s injury change things?
Q: How does Josh Hazlewood's injury impact the Australian team's chances?
Hazlewood's absence is significant as he's been in phenomenal form, and losing two key bowlers gives England a massive opportunity.
