出於敬畏，也為了祈求航行平安，
逐漸發展出各地的水神信仰 🙏
像是希臘神話中的海神 波賽頓（Poseidon） ⚓
就是人類對海洋敬畏的象徵之一。
在台灣，與航海相關的信仰相當多元 🌬️
其中最普遍的是 媽祖信仰 🧭
觀音則有「普渡眾生、脫離苦海」的意象 🌸
玄天上帝被視為航海指引的北極星神格化 ⭐
而水仙信仰，
則是將「與水有關的人」轉化為神明的信仰型態 💧

早期臺灣社會，
對於死於水難、無主的亡靈特別重視 👻
各地都有祭祀亡靈的小廟，
每到農曆七月，也會透過普渡，
希望「好兄弟」都能得到安慰 🍚🕯️
口湖牽水藏，
源自雲林海岸曾發生過的大水難 🌊
為了超渡亡靈，
人們用竹子編成「水藏」，
糊紙、彩繪後，
再透過莊重的道教科儀焚燒 🔥
象徵引領亡靈安心離苦、得到安息
