伊索寓言
孙悟空的侯《伊索寓言》相传为公元前六世纪被释放的古希腊奴隶伊索所著的寓言集，并加入印度、阿拉伯及基督教故事。
《伊索寓言》中收录有300多则寓言，内容大多与动物有关。书中讲述的故事简短精练，刻画出来的形象鲜明生动，每则故事都蕴含哲理，或揭露和批判社会矛盾，或抒发对人生的领悟，或总结日常生活经验。 该寓言集通过描写动物之间的关系来表现当时的社会关系，主要是压迫者和被压迫者之间的不平等关系。寓言作者谴责当时社会上人压迫人的现象，号召受欺凌的人团结起来与恶人进行斗争。
《伊索寓言》对后代欧洲寓言的创作产生了重大的影响，不仅是西方寓言文学的典范之作，也是世界上传播最多的经典作品之一。

从前，有两个仇人同乘一条船去航海。一个坐在船尾，另一个坐在船头。忽然，海上狂风大作，巨浪滔天。很快，船里就进了不少水，眼看着要沉了。船尾的那个人想到自己还没有向船头的人报仇，觉得很遗憾。这时，他问舵工船的哪一部分会先沉下去。舵工说：“船头。”那个人很高兴地说：“现在我死而无憾了，因为我就要看到我的仇人死在我前头了。”
两个士兵一起赶路，在路上碰到一个强盗。一个士兵马上躲到一边，而另一个则勇敢的迎上去，与之搏斗，并杀死了强盗。看到强盗死了，那个胆小的士兵跑过来，拔出剑大声说：“让我来对付他。”那名勇敢的士兵说：“我只愿你刚才能帮助我，现在还是请你把剑插回去，管住你那毫无用处的舌头吧，我亲眼见识了你逃跑的速度，十分清楚你的勇气是假扮出来的。”
牧羊人养了一只壮实的狗。他常常把死了的羊喂给狗吃。这只狗心想：“活羊的味道说不定更鲜美呢！可是主人肯定不会喂我活羊，我只能自己想办法了。有一天，那只狗来到羊圈，悄悄的走近羊群，想趁机捞只羊吃，没想到主人已经注意它很久了，识破了它的意图。主人生气地说：“你这贪婪的家伙！你想要对羊做的事，也许会落到你自己头上！”
一个出海回来的朋友鼓励牧羊人出海冒冒险。牧羊人见海宁静而温顺，就卖掉了羊，买了些枣子装在船上出发了。不料，海上突然刮起大风，眼看船就要沉下去了。他忍痛把货物全部扔进海里，才躲过这场灾难。牧羊人再也不想出海了。一次，有人看见海面很宁静，就开始赞美大海。牧羊人对他却说：“大海又想要枣子了，所以才显得如此宁静。”
