法國第四共和國（1946年－1958年）是法國歷史上一個充滿挑戰與變革的時期。由於政治不穩定的體制無法應對阿爾及利亞軍事政變的威脅，議會最終投票授予戴高樂將軍全權，以修訂憲法。戴高樂上臺後，創建了一個權力更強大的總統制國家——法蘭西第五共和國。第五共和國（1958年至今）。它的政體是一種結合了總統制和內閣制特點的雙首長制（或稱半總統制），被設計來確保政府的穩定和效率。
